Searching for Mushegh
(Feature-length Documentary)
A feature-length documentary about memory, inspiration, and a forgotten pioneer of Iranian cinema.
Acclaimed production designers Iraj Raminfar and Majid Mirfakhrayi look back at the paths that led them to their craft and discover a shared point of origin: Shabneshini Dar Jahanam, the visually audacious film created by Mushegh Sarvarian. Realizing how profoundly his work influenced their own, they begin searching for the man behind those images—and asking why his name has largely faded from the history of Iranian cinema.
Their search eventually reaches Los Angeles, where they find Mushegh’s grandson, who joins their journey to uncover photographs, films, memories, and surviving traces of a remarkable artist.
Searching for Mushegh becomes more than the search for one forgotten filmmaker; it is an attempt to recover a missing chapter from the visual history of Iranian cinema.
A Pearl Leaves Her Shell

A brief and heartfelt animated journey through the life of Margarit Sarvarian, from her childhood in Tbilisi to the life she built in Tehran. Moving through memories of family, education, love, and loss, the film traces a woman whose quiet determination would leave an enduring mark on generations to come.
Woven together with Armenian poetry and music, A Pearl Leaves Her Shell transforms her life into an intimate meditation on leaving home, finding purpose, and the legacy one life can leave behind.
History Is Written by the Winners
(Short Documentary)
Areg Sarvarian, the younger grandson of Napoleon Sarvarian, leads this intriguing exploration of statistics, chance, and our enduring desire to predict the unpredictable. Set within Los Angeles’ Iranian community during the Soccer World Cup, the film uses betting, probability, and prediction as a playful subtext for a deeper investigation into how we understand possibility—and how much of life can ever truly be anticipated.
Directed by San Fransisco based filmmaker Betsy Tsai and partly supported by the European Documentary Foundation, "History Is Written by the Winners" turns the excitement and uncertainty surrounding the World Cup into a wider reflection on chance, choice, and the stories we tell after the outcome is known.
